My mom will be retiring from his teaching job next year. In preparation for his retirement, she is now considering some important things that could help her with her finances when she retires. A friend from an insurance company advised her to buy an annuity which will provide her a lifetime pension. She even provided my mom some annuity information but until now she still thinking about it. I don’t know much about annuity and I can’t give my mom a better advice. I guess I will have to research this matter first to help my mom decide.

I have a shoe box full of receipts because it helps me keep track with my expenses and purchases. I am not only keeping receipts for my personal purchases but much of these receipts are from my workplace’s expenses. Because I am spending the company’s money, I need to make sure that everything is well accounted for.

I am used to collecting receipts, put them in my pocket or wallet and when I arrived in the office, I usually put in it my receipt box and record them as soon as possible. But last December, I had so many receipts that were left unrecorded because of my busy schedule providing help to typhoon victims. So I had to record them one by one. The problem was, when it was time to record all them, I can’t anymore read the details of the receipt because it was already unclear. This is the problem with the new receipt printer that most of the stores are using now. The receipts can’t be kept in a longer period of time because it will become a clear white paper after a few months.

I have learned my lesson from that experience. I will make sure to record all receipts and purchases as soon as possible so I won’t have problems with my financial records.

When I opened my mail today, I was surprised to see an email with this subject:

Amazon.com – Your Cancellation

I opened the mail and it said something like this:

Dear Customer,

Your order has been successfully canceled. For your reference, here’s a summary of your order:

You just canceled order 17-251-41714 placed on May 1, 2012.

Status: CANCELED

The first question I had in mind while reading the email was, “does the email come really from Amazon.

the email address is order-update@amazon.com.

If the mail really came from amazon, I don’t think it was for me because I didn’t ordered anything from them. But I was worried because “maybe” someone was using my email address and other information that is why I googled on this. This is what I’ve found from www. nakedsecurity.sophos.com

Waiting for a delivery from Amazon.com? Well, be careful if you receive a notification in your email – as it could be that hackers are trying to trick you into infecting your computer.

We’re intercepting a wave of forged emails which claim to come from order-update@amazon.com, but unlike regular emails from the dot com giant they have a malicious file attached designed to run a Trojan horse on your computer.

In a seeming attempt to entice users to open the dangerous attachment, the emails have embedded inside them an image of a familiar half-opened Amazon branded package.

We bought new musical instruments for our church last month because all of our musical instruments and equipment got flooded due to Typhoon Washi. We are so happy with the new keyboard, guitars, guitar amps, and the new mixer. Although it isn’t complete yet, but we are hoping to add more audio accessories next month. We want to add more microphones and we are also eyeing to buy a Universal Audio 710 Twin-Finity Mic Pre and DI Box. If we have all these, it will surely enhance our worship service especially our time to sing praises to God.

One of the things I can’t live without is a mirror. Whenever I put on new clothes, I always check it with a mirror to see if the clothes really fit me well. As of now, I only have a small wall mirror in my bedroom. I like to have a floor mirror where I can see my whole body and will help me in dressing up. However, I still can think of where to put it especially now that we have relatives living with us. But I have already asked my hubby to choose me a nice floor mirror for our bedroom. It will not only help me put on good clothes, but it will also give a nice look to our bedroom.
